A lucky poker player from New York playing on the Merge Gaming Poker Network recently broke the world record for bad beat jackpots and proved the Friday the 13th is not an unlucky date. The player won $417,396 with the jackpot hitting the huge amount of $1.2 million. The Bad Beat Jackpot has already been reset and now stands at $240,000.
The world record jackpot was won by RUGGIO, who won the prize at the lowest stake jackpot table where the blinds began at only $.50 /$1. RUGGIO had a straight flush from 7 to the Jack of hearts. He lost the hand by the player AELANI, who had a higher straight flush of hearts to the King. For his lost hand, which he actually won, AELANI won the cool amount of $108,698. The other 5 players that were at the Bad Beat Jackpot table each won $41,739.
RUGGIO was holding an 8 and 7 of hearts and the flop was a 3 of diamonds, 9 of heats, and Jack of hearts. He needed another heart to have a flush and he called the $4 bet by AELANI. The turn card was the Queen of clubs and AELANI bet $8, which was called right away. The river card came out and was the 10 of hearts, which gave RUGGIO a straight flush and he thought he had the hand won. AELANI bet $20 and RUGGIO raised to $35. AELANI raised and went all-in and RUGGIO must have felt like the unluckiest poker player in the world when AELANI showed his Queen and King of hearts, which game him a higher straight flush. However, his sadness turned to happiness when he won the Bad Beat Jackpot of $417,396.
