Harrah’s has recently announced the schedule for the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP), which will be the 40th WSOP and is the biggest poker tournament in the world. The 2009 WSOP will, once again, be held at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prestigious tournament will run from May 26th to July 15th of this year. Contrary the rumors that have swirled that the 2009 WSOP would be a smaller tournament it will instead offer the largest series of poker events. There will be 57 bracelet tournaments that will make up most of the schedule and will be joined by a few unique events and continuing satellite tournaments and various cash games. In 2008 the WSOP had a total of 57 events.
The complete 2009 WSOP schedule will also include the much talked-about delay for the final table of the WSOP Main Event with the 2009 eventual “November Nine” to return to the Rio Casino to take place on November 7th for all the marbles. In 2008 Peter Eastgame, who is a professional poker player from Denmark, dealt with the delay of 117 days in order to win the top honor of the WSOP. Last year was the first year that pause had been introduced. Once again, ESPN will give prime-time coverage for the final table at the WSOP.
