Scotty Nguyen Wins LAPC H.O.R.S.E.

Scotty NguyenOnce again the Prince of Poker has showed that he is always a threat to take down the big pot, as he recently won the H.O.R.S.E. event at the LA Poker Classic.

In the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Nguyen made history by winning the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event. At that event Nguyen was accused of being drunk and acting bad at the table. However, he still won the all the money and took home the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy.

The La Classic H.O.R.S.E. tournament is not as prestigious as the WSOP, but it was still a tough event to win with 96 players. Some of the top players that participated were Men Nguyen, John Cernuto, Allen Cunningham, Layne Flack, Mike Matusow, Amnon Filippi, Gavin Smith, Eli Elezra, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, Erik Seidel, David “Chino” Rheem, Jeff Madsen, Chris Ferguson, Annie Duke, and Barry Greenstein.

Nguyen beat all those players to win the first prize of $340,993. He took down last year’s WSOP Main Event finalist David “Chino” Rheem in heads-up play and Jeff Madsen finished in third place.

After the even Nguyen said,

Before I came down to play this tournament, I told myself ‘I’m going to dominate. This was a good field to play against. But the win here and at the WSOP has got to make people consider me number one in H.O.R.S.E.
