President Obama
An American citizen, going by the screen name AAHue made this suggestion this week with the idea of boosting the economy in the U.S. by legalizing Internet poker. AAHUE wrote,10,000 America citizens have voted on the suggestion made by AAHUE, which vaulted the idea to second place on the site’s suggestion page. Many citizens have left comments on the idea. To date in excess of 5,000 ideas have been submitted to the site.
Let online poker players in the United States play legally and without fear of prosecution. Reform the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act to exempt poker, a game of skill, from the law. Boost the economy by letting American companies and American (sic) players make money and pay taxes instead of sending online poker businesses offshore. Protect online poker players by regulating the industry to ensure that no one is ever cheated.
Incoming president Barack Obama’s website has been seeing a lot of requests to allow Internet poker players to play in the U.S. without living with the fear of being prosecuted, as currently playing poker online is illegal. Overturning the Internet poker ban is the second most popular idea on the www.change.org website. The site was set up by the transition team of the president elect and its purpose is for the public to send in suggestions that Obama should consider when he takes office.
